Q&A

So I decided to put a Q&A page because I often get asked the same answers over and over again, so maybe this will help…first business then personal…

Are you under management?
At this time, I do not have an exclusive manager. Most of the gigs I book are from my own networking. Looking to sign some non-exclusive contracts in the near future however.

Where do you receive a bulk of your training?
I have taught myself how to network and get into modeling on my own. However, we all know that the DMV is not the best area for that field. For acting however I have learned a lot from Robert Christie’s workshops (www.rcfeature.com), which I have been taking since the beginning of 2009 and love it.

Who created your reel?
My reel was created by Kevin Tan (Inner Glow) with the help of previous management, Bello Talent.

Are you really Egyptian?
Yes, but let’s be clear, I was born in California. Both my parents were born in Cairo, Egypt and came to America for a “better life” (lol). As far as I know everyone in my extended family is Egyptian as well. For the exception of my Aunt and her family, all my extended family lives in Egypt.

What nationality do people usually mistake you for?
I’ve gotten all types of different nationalities. Unless people hear my whole last name, people usually can’t figure it out. Most common is Puerto Rican (or any variation of Spanish), mixed with black and white, or just a “light skin” black girl. But nope! I am Middle Eastern. :)

Do you speak Arabic?
I can speak conversational Arabic (Egyptian dialect). It is very limited because I don’t have a chance to use it, but if you drop me off in the middle of Egypt, I will know enough to get around. And no, I don’t have an accent. Sorry. :)

How long were you in the military?
I was in the USN…I did one enlistment of four years and got the heck out!! I originally joined to become an Arabic linguist, but because my recruiter lied to me (and I didn’t know any better) I got stuck doing analytical work…by that time I had fractured my hip in boot camp along with many other unfortunate circumstances and was no longer willing to change rates due to the fact I would have to re-enlist.

Did you like the military?
Absolutely not, don’t get me wrong, I respect the military as a whole, but my experience was VERY poor and unsatisfying. I recommend the military to people like me who were trying to get out of their hometown after high school and had a lack of options – although I wouldn’t do it again, I’ve gained a lot. Of course if you are very patriotic and just want to serve your country, that’s a good reason too!
